In essence, it was the first form of Aquatic Bodywork and it compiles as a passive aquatic bodywork therapy that includes deep relaxation.

The duration may vary, however although it is set for about one hour, there is a shift in time/space perception during the session At times, it can be useful to re-activate with aquatic exercises after the sessions has ended or take some time off for «landing». The benefits are felt and imprinted deeper when there is a frequency set to receive sessions over time.

Watsu® is a beautiful gift a mother receives and her to be born baby as they feel the sensations of the weightlessness and can benefit immensely from the practice. As her lower back releases a lot of holding from the body undergoing a shift in the vertical line while standing. Both mothers and babies inside share this vibrant moment together and experiment joy and happiness.

Scottish practitioner Mari MacRitchie has used the therapy very successfully with cases who have physical or mental disabilities.  “It’s a wonderful experience for people who are otherwise confined to a wheelchair,” she says. My personal experience is that people with disabilities truly benefit because it helps with functionality.

Many people who suffer from motion sickness can find easiness in the stillness of the water in grounding positions. It is understood that water is a no-no when there are open wounds, skin conditions or infectious diseases. But it is useful when there is jet lag, as it favors a good rest and better sleep.
